Unless you've been hiding under a rock, we all know the end of the locally produced Holden Commodore is nigh. October 2017 and it's all over. It will be a sad end to an era.
It's pretty much universally agreed that the final VF/VFII series Commodore is the finest Australian car ever made; Holden has decided to end local manufacture on a high note.
Now might be the time to get in on owning what is a piece of unique Australiana. As a full-sized sedan, the current shape VF Commodore is not short on performance or tech. If you can't afford new, a second-hand SV6 is a veritable bargain. At $20,000 to $25,000 AUD, the cost of depreciation has been worn by the previous owner. At $39,000 AUD for a new SV6; second hand for basically the same car is an attractive proposition.
For your spend, your SV6 will have less than a 100K on the clock. A perky 3.6-litre V6 engine developing 210kW @ 6700rpm and 350Nm of torque @2800rpm.
