2008-2012 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR CJ

2008-2012 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR CJ

Since the mid 90's there have always been two camps for Japanese rally wranglers. Subaru or Mitsubishi. WRX STI or Lancer Evolution. Rexxie and Evo fans rarely mix, we've already covered the Subaru, so we thought it only fair that we look at the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.

The tenth generation Lancer Evo has been around long enough now, that reasonably priced examples are surfacing. Interestingly, they seem to be holding their prices better than similarly aged Rexxie's. They are a rarer animal down under, and that may account for the higher prices.

To get into a decent Lancer Evolution MR, you're going to need to budget between $30,000 to $45,000 AUD. Considering they were more than $70,000 AUD new, it's a fair ask.

You have to factor in that the Lancer Evo is a purpose built sports sedan based on a rally inspired all-wheel drive platform and as such, some of them may have had a hard life. It's vital you have your potential Evo checked out by an expert. Doing so may save you a world of hurt later on. Once your Evo has been given the nod, get ready for some hair-raising fun. With 217kW @ 6500rpm on tap and 366Nm torque @ 3500rpm and a sub 5.0 second 0 to 100km/h dash, you won't be short of thrills. Just remember no rally gymkhana on public roads, if you do that, you're an idiot :)
