2007-2011 Honda Civic Type R

Before Honda got boring, they used to make a range of 4 pot screamers under the R badge. Owning a Honda with an R badge displayed your passion for the marque and meant you were hardcore about your driving. By the early noughties, the R brand had all but lost its meaning. The Honda faithful put their hands up in disgust and sales reflected this. 2007 saw the release of the all-new Honda Civic Type R and while it wasn't up to the dizzying heights of the original R-series, it was a step in the right direction. The 8th generation Civic Type R has been around long enough that a clean example with less than a 100K on the clock is quite affordable. Around $15K-$25K AUD, should see you behind the wheel. Bang for the buck; a 0 to 100km/h dash in 6.6 seconds is good value. I was following a Civic Type R the other day and on the side window was a bold vinyl sticker saying, 'NA is better'. At the next traffic lights I happened to pull alongside and I wound down the window catching the R driver's attention. I asked, "What does NA is better mean?". He laughed, and replied, "Naturally Aspirated is better man". Yeah, of course, it is.
