In the wake of the dieselgate fiasco, you'd think that VW's reputation would be more tarnished. Yes they cheated and they were caught red-handed but that doesn't change the fact they have made some great cars. Which brings us to the V series Golf R32, a pocket rocket if ever there ever was one.
Stuffing a big 3.2 litre V6 into a small hatch is the stuff of legends, guaranteed to cause sh#ts (damn profanity filter) and giggles. Not only did those crazy Germans fit it with a lusty V6, but it also possesses sublime handling being all-wheel drive. Sounding better and better isn't it, well that's not all. For $20K AUD you can get your hands on a real pearler.
With a peak power output of 184kW @ 6300rpm and a peak torque of 320Nm from as low as 2500rpm, you can see the R32 Golf has some real motivation. Another great thing about owning a V series Golf is the aftermarket crowd is all over it and making your R32 go a lot harder is relatively easy as there's a myriad of cost-effective upgrades you can add. Change the exhaust, add a cold air intake, that'll bump the output to an extra 40kW, easy - how awesome is that! You'll be pulling mid 5's for the 0 -100km/h dash and embarrassing unsuspecting bogans in their big V8s.
I'm outta here, I've decided to go out and buy one :).
