If you're a car nut there's only one thing better than the LaFerrari Hypercar; the new open top LaFerrari. It's like the thing you've always wanted, that you didn't know you wanted... Well, if you're uber rich that is.
For us regular daydreamers, what Ferrari have done is take an already exotic LaFerrari, removed the roof and created a thing of pure awesomeness. Often the case with conversions to open top motoring, something gets lost in the translation - who knew a LaFerrari would look even more extreme as a convertible.
For the lovers of geek speak, the open top LaFerrari features the same running gear and performance figures as its closed top sibling, being a race inspired 6.3 Litre V12 engine producing 800hp, coupled with an 163hp electric motor, unleashing a mind bending 963hp in total. The 0 to 100 km/h dash is smashed in under 3 seconds. Top speed will probably be less than that of the closed top LaFerrari, which was quoted at 350km/h.
Word is the new open top will be officially named the LaFerrari Aperta, 'Aperta' being Italian for 'open'.
The new limited edition special series will be available with a removable carbon-fibre hard top and a removable soft top.
The open top LaFerrari has been significantly re-engineered with the chassis and underlying dynamics remaining the same as the original coupe version, which is a feat in itself.
Aerodynamically, they attain the same drag coefficient as the original LaFerrari, even without the roof. Bring it on I say.
