2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 prototype spotted at its development center

2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 prototype spotted at its development center

GASP... YOINK... Oh hells yes, Michigan has the new Shelby causing a rumble. The suspected new prototype for the 2018 GT500 spotted outside the development center looks like a delicious thing and boy does it sound the beans.

We've included a video uploaded by Mustang6G showing the new Mustang, albeit with a covered beak. The noise which follows leads us to believe that Ford is giving this pony something of a thump in the engine bay. Sources are revealing that the new GT500 may be getting the 750 hp supercharged 5.2-litre cross-plane crank version of the flat-plane crank naturally-aspirated Voodoo V8 used in the GT350, whilst there are also rumours that it may run a twin-turbo Ecoboost version of the Mustang GT's 5.0-litre Coyote V8. Interesting, n'est-ce pas??

Unless something else happens in the mean time, this will put the Mustang back at the head of the Muscle car table. News of the new incarnations of Chevrolet Camaro 650hp ZL1 and 707hp Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat have us drooling enough - and this new Mustang will most likely have those guys waving their fists at the sky, but hey - bring on the carnage, oh yeah!

The aforementioned options have proven to be great for the after market tuning crowd, often adding circa 10%-15% extra horsepower. Ford's hard hit at the horsepower obviously doesn't ignore the build of a factory bred powerhouse of fun.

No confirmation from Ford yet, the car shows are coming up soon all over the place so we're thinking this scoundrel will make a similar showing like the last GT500 did.
